5 Verses for Life’s Twists and Turns

Life is full of ups & downs and the Bible is there with verses to guide us through them all.

Life doesn’t always go the way we planned. There are some weeks when it seems like every productive thing I had planned went up in smoke. I had one of those weeks this past week where nothing I planned went right. It can be frustrating when it happens for a day, but it can be disheartening when it looks like you are having a bad day day after day. When this happens, it can be easy to sink into every negative feeling. The more you sink into the negativity, the harder it is to bring yourself out of it. When life seems to be getting the better of you, here are five verses to help bring calm to the chaos.

1. Matthew 6:34 NLT

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

This verse is a reminder that when life starts to weigh you down with worry, to not start letting it consume your life. Take it one day at a time.

2. Psalm 138:3 NLT

“As soon as I pray, you answer me, you encourage me by giving me strength.”

When we get overwhelmed and start feeling down, God will hear our prayers and give us strength. How nice it is to have that strength to lean on during hard times!

3. Romans 8:31 NLT

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”

When we seem to be constantly bombarded, we should remember that if God is in our side, we have all we need to stand against it.

4. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

We have to make it less about us so that Christ can shine through us. A lot of the time we are weakest when our lives don’t go the way we planned. It is during this time that we can take something bad and turn it into good if we let Christ be our strength and see how he is working in the situation.

5. Psalm 23:4 NLT

“Even when I walk through the valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”

Psalm 23 is one of the most popular passages during trying times. Verse 4 reminds us that when we are walking through hard times, God is always near and is there to protect and comfort us.

These verses can provide a new perspective when your world starts to get fuzzy and a little out of control. Whatever our situation may be, the Bible always has advice and guidance to help us. If life seems to be getting the better of you, look to God and His Word for comfort and guidance.

About Victoria Mitchell

I am a wife, mother, and Christ follower. Above all else, I have always wanted to be a mom and that dream came true on November 11, 2016. I now hide all chocolate and sweets so I can eat them when my son is sleeping without sharing and never get a moment of peace. Being a mom is the hardest, but also the best job that I have ever been blessed with. When I get the chance, I love being able to sneak off and have time with my husband. Keeping our marriage (and in turn our family) healthy is a priority for us.
